Planet Ice Salutes you
Sessions are open to people of all ages and ability levels – skate today! PLANET ICE public skating sessions are available year-round. Cool off during the summer heat!
Our staff will help make your experience memorable. Whether you are skating on your own or bringing a group of friends, the facility will provide a comfortable location for your recreation and entertainment. Beginning skaters in the group can enjoy our beginner skater aids.
A complete snack bar provides snacks and hot and cold beverages. Don’t forget about our video games next to the skate rental.
PLANET ICE has the best location right in the center of Lafayette. It’s easy to find; We are conveniently located right behind Don’s Seafood on Johnston, right next to Bell’s Sports and there is plenty of parking. Click here for Map and Directions
PLANET ICE has safe, soft rubber mat flooring throughout the entire lobby, locker rooms, bathrooms, and inside the rink. Good for walking around in skates. Our staff is happy to provide tips on safe skating for you and your group.
We do not allow anyone on the ice in shoes, everyone on the ice must be in skates. We recommend wearing warm, loose clothing that covers the entire body but freely allows movement. The temperature inside the rink can get below 40°F so we don’t recommend you wear shorts or t-shirts. Gloves are a necessity. Exposed skin is easily chilled and can be scraped by the surface of the ice during a fall. This is called “ice-burn”, and similar to rug-burn, it is very unpleasant. Be safe, be warm, and cover up.
Tots and beginners (and anyone else) are encouraged to wear helmets (bike or hockey are fine), kneepads and elbow pads. Skaters may fall and your clothing can get wet from contact with the ice. We don’t provide, nor do we have helmets for sale
